Cedar Shingle Roofing
Sustainable Structures contracts cedar shingle roofing throughout Maine. Cedar roofing requires careful attention to detail and an understanding of the materials used. We take pride in our understanding of this traditional craft. To create a successful cedar roof the craftsman must have an understanding of the materials used. One must be able to read the shingle, figure out which side of the shingle faces the roof and which one faces the sky. The shingles should be well cared for before they are installed, paying close attention to make sure they are not too dry and not too wet. Spacings and overlaps on the roof need to be right. The shingle itself should be of the highest quality and the craftsman must be careful to cull out any defective shingles during the installation process. We take cedar shingling seriously, but have a lot of fun doing it.
Traditions from the past
